Drugs for ADHD – Side Effects and Repercussions
You will notice that many of these behaviours are commonly found in children as well as adults! Unfortunately, 90% of children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD) are prescribed Ritalin or similiar drugs. Ritalin is actually a class 2 controlled narcotic, in the same category as cocaine, and is highly susceptible to abuse and dependence. The two most common side effects of Ritalin are insomnia and lack of appetite – lack of sleep and lack of nutrients, pretty major side effects. And most of the children that are prescribed Ritalin, end up becoming a shell of their former selves because a type of numbness sets in. Other side effects of Ritalin include:

So, there is the approach that employs fear and makes your child fearful of making mistakes or fearful of others or even worse, fearful of you. Do you need to instill fear in your child? No, that is a choice you make. A fearful child does not believe in themselves. A child that does not believe in themselves has a hard time getting through any aspect of life. But then, there is this whole other approach – the approach that employs love. Which approach raises a stronger, happier child? Which approach provides a child with tools from which to draw upon for the rest of their lives? Which approach brings you and your child closer? The one that employs love.

Continue to visualize achieving your goals with enthusiasm, feeling the joy of each accomplishment within. If your goal is to become slimmer, only view yourself in your mirror when you are in slimming clothes or at a certain angle that is most slimming or do not view yourself in the mirror at all but in your mind’s eye, see a slimmer version of yourself. And then allow yourself to feel the joy that will ensue when you reach your goal.
Read MoreThe Important Job of Parenting
Various parenting methods produce children whose primary emotion is love or fear – these are the only two options. It seems to me that the “authoritarian” parenting style is still very much alive and well in the raising of today’s children. This makes sense due to the fact that so many of us were raised ourselves by parents using this approach. The challenge with this approach is that the children who are punished or told what to do at all times “or else,” end up living in fear. It is the only result of authoritarian parenting. Children parented in this way feel under attack. These children put up defenses around the parts of themselves that their parents don’t approve of and try to protect their vulnerable inner selves by displaying tough outer selves. They keep themselves “safe” but at what cost?
Read MoreThe Emotional Connection to Physical Illness
We now have the sickest generation of human beings to have ever existed in the history of mankind. Obesity, allergies, asthma, autism, ADD, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis and cancer are only a few examples of the epidemics that exist today. The physical reason for these epidemics is that the world is simply more toxic than ever before – our food, water and air are perpetually being contaminated. But why do certain people contract certain illnesses? Wherever there is physical illness, there is always an emotional connection – I have discussed this concept in prior blogs but once I learned of the large interest in this topic, I felt compelled to explain the concept in greater detail.

Nutritionists can help you detect food sensitivities/allergies or nutritional deficiencies and then assist you in devising a plan to change your child’s diet. It is certainly sad when a parent has assumed for years that their child wanted to receive gifts when all the child really wanted was physical touch. Or if your child’s love language is physical touch and you were never hugged or kissed as a child, this language will be a little more challenging for you to learn. In either case, all you need to do is explain this to your child and ask them for their help in reminding you of or initiating their love language. It may have been over the course of many years that your child has not received interaction in their love language and you may have struggled in your relationship but it is never too late to start filling your child’s love tank.

We have all heard of essential fatty oils (please see my prior blogpost for the benefits) but not so many of us have heard of seal oil or the fact that seal oil is available for human consumption. In the past year, I have been doing my own experiments, watching friends and family members consume the Auum oil and have been amazed at the results. Why did I even begin these experiments? Because I had heard that Seal oil was the very best source of Omega 3 fatty acids and I learned through other nutritionists that Auum is the very best processor of the oils.
