Using Covid-19 Restrictions to Find Freedom, Joy and Purpose

Woman experiencing joy in a field of sunflowers because she's found freedom with Covid-19 restrictions.

The vast majority of us have been living with extreme restrictions over the past eight months and counting.

In that time, some of us have been living with people who don’t love and appreciate us. Some of us have had to get our food from a food bank. Some of us have been living with depression, anxiety or sleep challenges for the first time in our lives. Some of us have been trying to cope with loneliness. Some of us have been struggling with learning on-line. Some of us have been struggling with health issues, possibly Covid-19 itself.

None of us are able to do everything we want to do right now. None of us have control of the trajectory of our lives. For those of us living with restrictions, none of us know when the Covid-19 restrictions will end or what our future holds.

Our souls came to Earth to have and experience free will. What is happening right now goes against our very core; it seems to go against our purpose for being here.

But how does a prisoner find happiness when facing a life sentence? They find freedom within their mind. They start working out, reading, writing, helping others or getting an education, just to give a few examples. What does a life coaching client do every time they truly want to get well? They find a new perspective, a new way of looking at things, so they can create a new path for themselves.

During this pandemic, some have turned to drugs and alcohol and others have become more determined than ever to stop. Some have been afraid of technology and others have taken courses or sought help to learn how to make technology work for them. Some, who have not been loved or appreciated by those with whom they live, have sought counsel, started the process of coming to love themselves and/or begun setting boundaries.

Everything happens FOR us not TO us. And everything happens for a reason.

I hear people saying these words but know they don’t believe them. How do I know? Because if after eight months of living with Covid-19 restrictions, you are still fighting it, you don’t believe that everything happens for us or that everything happens for a reason. Now, if you are a lawyer fighting for us, you are in a position that allows you to fight for our constitutional rights and that’s different.

When it comes to the rest of us, when we fight restrictions that most of the world has been subjected to, we are living “in resistance”. We can be unhappy with the restrictions but if we let our negative feelings consume us, we only end up hurting ourselves. By changing our perspective, we CAN live “in the flow” and experience freedom, joy and purpose like never before.

Our souls come here to learn and grow, while enjoying themselves.

Our souls can accomplish their goals whether we travel or not, whether we have money or not, whether we have a certain job or not, whether we are sick or not (yes!) or whether we have any kind of challenge!

If we truly enjoy the present moment, we experience free will, learn and grow AND enjoy ourselves. And we can only enjoy the present moment if we choose not to live in fear but bask in LOVE.

When each of us finds the things that fill us up inside and bring joy into our lives, Covid-19 will take a back seat in our minds.

When we decide to focus on what is going right, as opposed to what is going wrong, we stop “resisting” and start “living in the flow”. When we decide to forgive ourselves for our past mistakes, knowing we were in a different level of awareness at that time, and start seeing the lessons we learned, we can enjoy ourselves more thoroughly.

And if we do all of this but the Covid-19 restrictions don’t end right away, our souls will still be accomplishing what they came here to do. And there is actually nothing more important than our souls completing their mission here.

Well said. I would add, if I may, that coming to the realization that we are all souls in human form connected to the Divine is the ultimate flow, the ultimate Joy. Everything else is external, an illusion that our mind creates.
