Why Are the Children of Today so Sick?

29

We are experiencing the sickest generation of children in the history of mankind.  Unfortunately, I can guarantee that the next generation will be even sicker – unless you are a family that is doing things differently than the majority.  You see, toxicity gets passed onto our children and their children and so on.  We look at the beautiful babies we are birthing and we think they are perfect.  I believe every child is perfect and born with the exact characteristics needed to live the lives they are meant to live.  But every baby is born with any health imbalances passed onto them by their mother and father.  If, for example, mother and/or father drank excessively at parties, smoked, or ate high sugar or processed foods, their digestive systems suffered the assault and so will baby’s.  I know because it happened to me and to those parents who seek my help.

Then the babies are given drugs when they get sick, go swimming in chemical laden public pools, consume preservatives and additives in their food, common allergens and more processed foods, get vaccinated (in quantities and combinations like never before) which are loaded with preservatives and heavy metals and the assault continues…..

Eventually, our children contract symptoms, conditions and disease.   They experience colic, reflux, ear and respiratory infections, colds and flu, behavioural challenges, constipation, poor sleeping habits, eczema, asthma, weight issues, ADD, Autism, Epilepsy and a host of other health challenges.  And their parents wonder how and why this happened to them.

Recently, my neighbour’s 19 month old, who was deemed completely healthy, received his 18 month shot and proceeded to start having seizures and then died in his sleep a few weeks later.  I have been told that my neighbour has no idea what happened to her son.  A month later, she is besotted with grief and is not accepting any calls and who can blame her?  The nightmare she is living may last the rest of her life.  Just so you know, it is never the vaccination alone that causes adverse reactions in children – it is that vaccinations increase a child’s toxic load beyond what some children can handle.  In other words, it is the vaccination in conjunction with the other factors to which the child is exposed, some of which are listed above, that can make a child’s body cross the barrier of what it can handle.

A couple of weeks ago, my children were told that I had been brainwashing them when it came to nutrition.  They were told that one can be completely healthy and drop dead and that one just never knows their fate.  My children, of all people, were told this – the two girls whose health was completely turned around because of the improvements I had made in terms of their nutrition.  We each have a choice as to whether we go through life absolving ourselves of the responsibility for our health or whether we educate ourselves and reap the benefits by aging with health and vitality.

I performed a seminar once and a teacher was in the audience who asked me what is happening to today’s children.  She told me that when she taught in the fifties, it was a rarity for anyone to miss school due to illness.  Let’s take a look at what was eaten leading up to that decade.  All fruits and vegetables were “organic” and loaded with more nutrients than the organic food of today.  Wheat and oats were not altered and bread was purchased fresh, one loaf at a time.  Refridgerators were rare and if you were lucky enough to have one, they had little freezer space so there were no readily available tubs of ice cream, freezies or drumsticks!  Store-bought ice cream was considered a big treat.  There was no television, therefore no t.v. dinners or pre-packaged meals.  No fast food restaurants existed.  No preservatives, colours, flavours, or marshmallows were added to food.  Growth hormones, antibiotics and vaccinations had not even been invented.

You tell me how you would respond to this retired teacher’s question.  You tell me what you would tell the mother that lost her son.  You tell me how you would respond to the person that told my children that I have been brainwashing them when it comes to nutrition.  It used to be a whole different world…a world where the majority of children were healthy, a world where everything was simpler, a world we can learn from today.

I have seen the incredible healing power of the human body.  I’ve seen the amazing changes families have made to create a healthy, balanced life.  It’s yours for the taking.  Have courage, have patience, and have faith.  Take the time to learn how to turn things around for your family and know that your children’s children and all future generations will benefit.  There is no greater accomplishment than improving the health of not only your own family but that of all future generations.

I would love your feedback. Here on my blog, you’ll get commentluv. This is a plug-in that allows you to leave a link back to your own site when you leave a comment.

Well said! You are an inspiration to all of us warrior moms out there fighting for health, informed choices and general well being for our families. I can’t for the life of me figure out why people seem so reluctant to make the connection with the chemicals we eat, breath, absorb and our list of health problems. Many moms meet my food choices for Tallulah with “eye rolls” or sometimes flat out smirks of “there is one of those crazy moms” . Crazy I might be – crazy for my child, mad about her health and wildly optimistic about how much better I can make her life just by teaching her how to make wise, healthy chemical free choices. I am sure those people fighting cancers might not be so quick to roll their eyes!

I drive my child 40 minutes across town to a loving, holistic and organic home daycare, is it easy? HECK NO. But taking the easy road is how we are all in the mess!

Thank you for what you do – I for one sincerely appreciate it and I love knowing there are other “crazy moms” out there.

    Melissa.

I read your message with a huge smile spreading across my face. Thank you for hearing me, for making my message even clearer and for being a ‘crazy mom’ out there in the world with me. Filled with gratitude,

Hi Meredith, Awesome blog! I had a good chuckle at the “brainwashing” comment. I have been told the same thing! I attend the CSNN and I just missed your Pediatrics course (it’s the only course I’ve been dying to take!!!). I have an 8.5 month old. I lost my babysitter and had to drop down to night classes. Anyhow, I agree with everything you wrote. My breast fed, organic food eating (when I can), non vaccinated daughter is so healthy and happy it’s just an absolute joy to see. Everywhere I go people stop me to tell me and say “wow, what a happy baby!” It’s music to my ears when I hear it. I look back at some of my girlfriends who just didn’t know any better and their children were bottle fed, vaccinated, and fed them all sorts of food and I look at the problems they have had with them. I really think the key is to educate parents and show them that they have options. Knowledge is the key to having happier, smarter and healthier children. Thanks Meredith for teaching mothers and fathers how to be the best parents to their beautiful children.

You are welcome, Suzanne. I am so sorry I missed teaching you pediatrics! I will continue teaching parents for the rest of my life, while continually feeling overwhelmed with gratitude to my daughters for showing me the way. Without them, I would have continued along the path to destruction!

Very well said! It breaks my heart to see all of this going on and of course its the youngest, most innocent that suffer the most and that have to reap the terrible consequences of someone else`s decision. Thank you for this wonderful blog and for all you do! I am planning on becoming a RHN this fall and can`t wait. The world needs an army of people who understand and are passionate about this truth!

    • Meredith on June 23, 2011 at 7:30 pm

Thank you so much for writing, Melanie. I am so pleased to hear that you will be becoming an RHN. The more of us that become educated in this area, the more we will be heard.

Every time I tell someone about the organic co-op from which I get my produce or the farmer from which I buy fresh milk and eggs, the response is always the same. “How much does that cost? Oh, that’s too much, I couldn’t spend that much on X.” Our society has had a value inversion over the past decades. We spend $ on flat screens and flashy cars instead of good quality food. I don’t think people understand that good nutrition is paramount when it comes to good health. I am amazed at the diet of friends’ children. Sugary cereal and gatorade 20 minutes before bed time, juice boxes always in hand, etc.. My wife, our son, and I are fortunate to understand this connection.

    • Meredith on June 25, 2011 at 5:52 pm

You are right. If people could see how much better their lives would go if they spent the money on good quality food, they wouldn’t even bring up the cost.

With good quality food, we are all healthier and more relaxed. We laugh more, remain more balanced overall and our lives flow so much better. And when we respect ourselves in this way, we don’t need to spend the money on all the material items in attempt to make ourselves feel better because we are already there.

      Thank you for writing, Danny.

  5. Tanya on June 25, 2011 at 6:00 pm

    I agree with you Meridith.
I grew up in Iowa where we picked and ate everything fresh, from berries to corn or tomatoes, we even got our milk fresh from the cows. The meat tasted so good, and it was. I didn’t realize how lucky we were back then.
Luckily even back then, my mom and grandma did not believe in medications, mainly just home remedies and later natural supplements from our naturopath doctor. I mainly took it for granted that this was a normal way to live, until later in life. Today, my friends take all kinds of pills for this and that, they are over weight and eat all kinds of fast foods and restaurant foods.
I on the other hand, don’t take any medications besides an occasional aspirin. My mother taught me to take supplements and natural treatments from my naturopath doctor, and I only buy organic.
Isn’t it sad that we are the only nation in the world that decided to poison our food supply with artificial this and chemical that, while the rest of the world said no way? I thought we were supposed to be the smart ones…

    • Meredith on June 26, 2011 at 10:58 pm

You are absolutely right, Tanya. It is so great that you realize now how blessed you were to be raised in such pure surroundings and clearly your health is still benefiting from that. Someone once told me that my work would be so well accepted in Europe and my response was that I would absolutely love to be there but knew I was needed here. Thanks for taking the time to write. The more that others can see how many are doing things differently than the majority, the more they might be encouraged to do the same.

  6. Jessica on July 13, 2011 at 11:07 am

I am filled with joy to read your article. I do my best to feed my 18mo old, my husband, and myself wholesome, organic foods. In my area it is very difficult to get organic foods and sometimes I feel weak and give in to buy the non-organic produce. Reading your article and knowing Im not alone in how I feel about good nutrition is motivating and pushes me to try and make a difference and lead by example. My son is incredibly healthy. Never has he had constipation, fever, ear infection, gas, colic, reflux, etc. He’s amazing and I know that my work eating healthy while I was pregnant and feeding him well from day 1 is what has made him such a wonderfully healthy little person. He is my world and I can only hope the reason others in our society would not feed their children or themselves better is just based on lack of knowledge – not lack of caring.

Thank you so much for your post and you have gained a forever fan,
    Jessica

    • Meredith on July 14, 2011 at 9:25 am

Jessica – your comments touched my heart. I agree with everything you have said. Food makes that much of a difference to our lives and I also believe that it is only lack of knowledge, as opposed to lack of caring, that causes people to make poor food choices. In my book, I explained that if it weren’t for my daughter being so sick, I would not have gained the knowledge that ensures I feed my family healthily. Thank you for reminding me that I am not alone in how I am doing things. And thank you for taking the time to write.

When you consider all the residue from drugs prescribed to Adults & Children together with all the chemicals in food, being pee’d back into the water-supply is it any wonder our kids are sick ?
With half the country taking Prozac and the other half on Ritalin and 90% of the female population taking the contraceptive pill, how do we know that they can purify the water completely before giving back to us to drink !
I’m convinced this is the reason for all the birth defects in babies, the drop in the spermcount in Men, and the sickness of our children.

    • Meredith on May 31, 2012 at 6:40 am

Thank you for writing Santiago. Yes your point is valid in terms of the drugs in our tap water – another reason to consume filtered water! There are other factors also contributing to birth defects, drop in sperm count and sickness in our children. These include the estrogen levels we are faced with, particularly from all the non-fermented and genetically modified soy, the chemicals in our food and water, the depletion of good bacteria in our bodies, the alcohol consumption amongst the adults these days …well, I could go on and on…but you get the picture. Whatever we can do differently from the majority will put us in good stead!

  9. Joseph on June 3, 2012 at 7:02 am

    Greetings Meredith,
I am a father of two and I would rather go to jail before vaccinating my childen with the toxic brew conjudured up by the Medical Mafia(Big Pharma). The thought of injecting babies born with pure clean blood with carcinogens is beyond rational thought. How can anyone tell me that poisoning my baby with these chemicals is profitable for him/her. I try with my whole heart advising people to research the issue out, but they look at me as if I am crazy and demented. One lady told me she did not want to know what was inside the vaccine because her baby was going to get vaccinated tomorrow. Now that is rational thinking and I am the crazy one. I am believer that the Lord created us and I would rather give my child to the Lord if He wants her than have my baby used as a labratory rat for Big Pharma.
It breaks my heart and bring tears to my eyes when I see and read these horrible stories about the terminal damages done to these children and families. They only thing I can say of comfort to these families is that as sure as the sun will shine tomorrow your children are in the arms of our Lord Jesus for all of eternity. There is nothing better you could have hoped for for babies even thou it has and is heart breaking for you at the moment. You will see your baby again if you are saved in the Lord. Therefore make sure you are saved and you will be reunited with your child again for all eternity.
Concerning organic foods in the past pesticides were used (DDT). I am not a big advocate or believer in Organic I wash my vegetables well and believe they are safe. I however stay away from processed foods as much as possible. My children are as heathy as you could wish for.
If you must stand alone: Stand.
    Thank you Lord Bless Joe

    • Meredith on June 3, 2012 at 4:59 pm

Thank you for writing, Joseph. You are not standing alone; there are others who believe in the natural, along with you. Thank goodness not all children are reacting adversely to the vaccinations..it says a lot obout the strength and health passed down along some generational lines. Yes, anything we can do these days that is different from the majority when it comes to our health, will put us and our families in good stead.

    Hi Meredith!

I am so grateful for the work you are doing to educate us all on the importance of healthy nutrition for our children (and us, too!).

I have found that standing firm on healthy choices isn’t always easy and many, many times I have felt alone on my journey. My girls are almost 13 and 9 and it sure was easier when they were little and they ate what was in our home. As they began school, their awareness of “what else is out there” grew and my real work and dedication began. I am buoyed and encouraged by your blog and by the other comments here. I thank the Universe every day that both Jeff and I are on the same page when it comes to spending money (sometimes lots and lots of money) on high quality, high vibrational food (and footwear, bit that’s another blog!! lol).

So thank you again…this was exactly what I needed to read this morning.

    Hugs,
    Christine
    🙂

      Dear Christine –

Thank you so much for taking the time to send me your comments on my blog. I miss seeing you! Yes, when we raise kids healthily these days, it does generally cost more and many of us feel rather lonely in our approach but it is so easy to see how it pays off in our children. Kudos to your husband for being onside – that is often half the battle to feeding children healthily right there!

  11. […] When the majority of the world has more access to healthy food than ever before, why are today’s children suffering so much and even dying?  The majority of adults do not understand the importance of feeding themselves and their children healthy food.   Generations ago, we did not need to understand the importance of healthy eating.  Our fruits and vegetables were made in nutrient rich soil, which contained more vitamins and minerals than even our organic fruits and vegetables do today.  We didn’t have drugs that deplete our bodies of good bacteria needed to prevent all symptoms, conditions and disease.  Chemicals did not exist in our food, water or air.  Flours, sugars and cow’s milk were not refined or pasteurized, depleting them of necessary nutrients and digestive enzymes.   Electro-magnetic radiation did not exist because there were no computers, televisions or cell phones.  Even alcohol and cigarettes were more pure as they didn’t have added chemicals (For more information on the toxicity of today’s world, please see my prior post: Why are the children of today so sick?).
