7 Ways to Strengthen Your Immune System

When our leaders are filled with fear, we can end up living in fear. When we subject ourselves to watching the news, we can end up living in fear. When our freedom and safety is at risk, we can end up living in fear. All of this is happening in our world that is already riddled with fear.
Our fear translates into anxiety, depression, addiction and mental illness, in general. And guess what? Fear literally weakens our immunity. Fear creates holes in our intestines that prevent us from absorbing the vitamins and minerals we need in order to be healthy and strong.
What combats fear? Knowledge and love i.e. trust and faith. I am writing you now in hopes of increasing your knowledge and alleviating your fears.
When you strengthen your immune system, you can prevent contracting colds, viruses and influenza, as well as, keep your energy levels high.
7 ways to strengthen your immune system:
1. Healthy Diet and Filtered Water
A healthy diet loaded with organic, alive, good quality foods can increase immunity against all sickness. Some examples of immune boosting foods are green leafy vegetables, red peppers, citrus fruits, nuts, seeds, and ginger (provided there is no sensitivity or allergy)
Immune suppressors are:
- Caffeine
- Alcohol
- Tobacco
- Marijuana and other recreational drugs
- Sugar
- Sugar substitutes
- Refined carbohydrates
- Red meats
- Processed foods
Eating foods with chemicals, genetically modified ingredients (wheat, corn, soy) or foods deficient in vitamins and minerals, increases the chances of catching any kind of sickness. Eating foods to which we are sensitive or allergic, also weakens our resistance and encourages viral infections to spread. It’s important that we detect the specific foods that cause adverse reactions in us. The most common allergens include:
- Dairy
- Wheat
- Sugar
- Soy
- Corn
2. Supplements
Certain supplements also boost the immune system.
- Probiotics replenish the intestine with healthy bacteria and are key to proper immune function.
- Vitamin D helps the body make Cathelicidin, a natural antimicrobial that attacks all pathogens, including viruses. Interestingly, ultraviolet radiation, needed to make more Vitamin D, inactivates viruses. Recent studies prove that Vitamin D in high doses (10,000 IU per day) also prevents and treats influenza.
- Vitamin C, also in high doses (up to 10,000 mg per day, depending on bowel tolerance), increases the production of white blood cells, boosts the immune system and is capable of killing viruses. The Shanghai government announced that medical doctors discovered that even higher doses of Vitamin C, administered intravenously, can put an end to Coronavirus.
3. Anti-viral Remedies
Anti-viral remedies include Oil of Oregano and Colloidal Silver. “Thieves” by Young Living is an essential oil that can be diffused into a room or rubbed on the soles of the feet at night to strengthen your immune system and ward off viruses (and, no, I don’t sell Young Living Essential Oils).
Inna Dolgopolsky, Classical Homeopath, explained to me that Arsenicum Album is the homeopathic remedy that is being used to prevent Coronavirus. This was discovered by a homeopathic hospital in India (yes, they have those there!) to be the most effective preventative. There has been no spread of the infection in those that took that remedy to this day. She was just in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and was told that this knowledge was shared with the World Health Organization, who refused to promote homeopathy.
4. Anti-viral Herbs
Anti-viral herbs can be consumed in capsules, teas, health foods and in their raw form to strengthen your immune system. They include Garlic, Echinacea, Lomatium, Myrrh Gum, North American and Siberian Ginseng, Astragalus, Reishi, St, John’s Wort, Thuja, Wild Indigo, Curcumin and Tumeric Rhizome.
5. Exercise
Exercise strengthens your immune system. Thirty minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise three to four times a week is a minimum requirement.
6. Rest and Relaxation
Rest and relaxation is also vital to fighting off viruses. Far too many individuals are sleep deprived. Most adults need seven to nine hours of sleep each night and children need even more. Stress causes poor digestion which significantly impacts the health of our whole immune system. And watching the news simply serves to increase our stress and thereby weaken our immunity. You will hear the important news in other ways – there is no need to watch it.
7. Mindset
There is an emotional connection to every physical illness and condition. The emotional connection to the flu is hopelessness. Within three days of feeling completely hopeless, we can contract the flu. That is how our mindset affects our bodies. Don’t succumb to fear or hopelessness. Continue doing the things that fill you up inside and continue being the light to those around you.
We can spend our days worrying about something that may or may not happen or we can live each moment to the fullest. I choose the latter. I regularly use many of these ideas to ensure I strengthen my immunity and live life to the fullest.
Hi! I am Meredith Deasley BA, RHN, RNCP, ACC www.theresourcefulmother.com. I connect families to health and happiness. For the past 20 years. I have been teaching the ways to try to prevent influenza, Ebola, Sars, and H1N1 at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and through my seminars, videos and books. I am not writing this post for you to come to me for help; I have given you everything you need on this topic.
As ALWAYS the information you share in your blogs is most helpful:)
As a senior in the over 70 age group and the group most vulnerable during this pandemic I would like to suggest that younger people be mindful in particular of avoiding visiting elderly people if they are not feeling well. While we love seeing
them some of us have compromised systems and are not as equipped to fight the flu or the corona virus.
Thanks so much Meredith! You are always a light shining in the darkness! I continue to put white light around me and my family in these times.
You are most welcome, Nadia. Thank you for taking the time to write me xoxo
