10 Ways to Use Your Body as a Road Map

85

Every aspect of our bodies can tell us a story about our physical and emotional wellbeing – a road map so to speak.  Here are 10 ways to use the wealth of information our bodies share with us about our physical wellness:

Nails – Longitudinal ridges could represent a Vitamin A, protein or calcium deficiency or a thyroid or circulation challenge.  Longitudinal lines could represent malabsorption, which means that vitamins and minerals are not being properly absorbed.  Horizontal ridges come about after a fever, infection, inflammation, menstrual problems or a period of protein deficiency or they can be caused by malnutrition.  White spots on the nails can be caused by a calcium or zinc deficiency.  Peeling nails can be caused from a zinc or essential fatty acid deficiency.  Chronic nail chipping is usually damage from household chemicals.

Feet and toes – Fungus under the toe nails is usually caused by a fungal infection (Vitamin B deficiency) or candida.  Very dry feet can be caused by a lack of essential fatty acids (EFA) or hypothyroidism.  Cold feet are another sign of hypothyroidism.

Tongue – A white coated tongue can be caused by intestinal putrification or candida.  White patches on the tongue can be attributed to a deficiency of B Vitamins.  A sore red tongue can be caused by a folic acid or Vitamin B deficiency.  A purplish red tongue often results when there is a Vitamin B5 deficiency.

Teeth and gums – Cavities can be caused by poor nutrition or a calcium deficiency.  Crowded teeth are usually caused by a calcium deficiency.  Bleeding gums are usually the result of a Vitamin C or folic acid deficiency or an acidic diet.  Unhealthy gums are often caused by poor nutrition or parasites.

Hair and scalp – Dry hair is usually caused by a Vitamin A, EFA or selenium deficiency.  Thinning hair or abnormal hair loss is caused by poor nutrition, stress, Vitamin B, zinc or biotin deficiency.  Brittle hair can be linked to a Vitamin E deficiency.  Dandruff is usually caused by Candida or a Vitamin A or selenium deficiency.

Muscles – Spasms or tremors are usually linked to a magnesium deficiency.  Muscle weakness can be attributed to Vitamin D deficiency.

Here are some particularly interesting ones:

Warts – Wart growth is often caused by a Vitamin C deficiency (I just learned this interesting piece of information!)

Stretch marks – Stretch marks come about from a zinc deficiency.  Red stretch marks indicate that there is probably still a zinc deficiency in the body.

Brown skin spots – These are caused by the sun and/or a weak liver.

Sensitivity to bug bites – This occurs when there is a deficiency of Vitamin C, B1, calcium or if the body has become too acidic.

I personally find this information to be entirely fascinating.  There is far more information where this comes from; this is simply a snapshot to remind you of how wise our bodies truly are.  All Nutritionists are trained in symptomatology; please seek their help in narrowing down the cause of your specific health challenge.

So, if we discover that we have the longitudinal lines on our nails; only 2, what is the recommended followup??

So sorry for my delay! I was unable to get into word press:( Longitudinal lines mean that we are not absorbing our food/minerals properly. Luckily, you only have two but it means that you need to heal your intestine by taking some supplements and learn the foods to which you react adversely to and avoid/limit them until your intestine is healed and can properly digest them. Please let me know if you want help with this, Doris.
